Fortified Village in the Gers

The architecture of this tiny magnificent circle-shaped Bastide from the 12th century is very well preserved indeed. This small fortified village is dominated by the Chateau de Fources and is idyllically situated at the banks of the small river Auzoue. Fources has less than 300 inhabitants who since 1970 participate themselves financially in the preservation and restoration of their bastide.

Far away from mass tourism...

Each year in spring, Fources features a famous and well-visited flower market. Moreover, there are numerous antique and flea markets organised throughout the year. But most of the time, this fortified village presents itself in peace and serenity, ideal for a relaxed stroll through and around this little village. After a tour through Fources and a quick visit to the tiny local museum, what's better than to sit down under a parasol at a terrace table, sipping pastis, a local wine or a taste of the famous armagnac and enjoying the traditional Gascon hospitality.

The chateau in Fources was build in the 15th century and fully restored in its original grandour and glory. Today, the chateau is in use as a luxuruous hotel, featuring a stylish quality restaurant serving a wide choice of local dishes such as Foie-Gras and Confit.
