Events and music festivals in the Gers
Southwest France
The Département Gers in the South-West of France is known for its music festivals. The most prominent example is probably the annual jazz festival in Marciac. But many music fans also visit the country music festival in Mirande. Both festivals are within easy reach of the campsite.
Besides music festivals also numerous annual events are held in this region.

| Country & Rock Music Festival |  |  In July the annual international Country and Rock Music Festival is organised in this little pittoresque Gascon village. During 4 whole days a large number of concerts take place. | A splendid and overwhelming fireworks show. |  |  Already for more than 10 years, this 2-day grand fireworks spectacle ’Les Nuits de Feu’ is one of Lectoure’s highlights. The fireworks show is held in Lectoure’s stadium against the contours of the ancient village. Before the show, more than 20 hot air balloons will launch from the stadium field. Village Festivals: all through the summer...
All through the summer the villages of the Gers organize their own local annual festival. The main festivals are probably on July 14th (national celebration) in many of the bigger villages, but August 15th is also a popular date for special annual festivals. For example in Gondrin where the ('Kinzout' festival week will take place around August 15th.
Even the smallest of villages is proud to organize their own local festivals or 'repas' (meals) where villagers sit together in the evening at long tables enjoying Gascony dishes and drinks. Authentic and traditional!
Bullfighting...
Unfortunately, the tradition of bullfighting is still present here in the Gers. This barbaric tradition is however no more of this time and age and hopefully will be completely abandoned soon. On this website you will not find any information on this topic except for this advice: don't go there!
