Although the Gers is hardly known by tourists, this region in the South-West of France features many historical monuments such as great ancient castles, cloisters, abbeys and cathedrals open to tourists. Did you know that there are over 500 castles in the Gers (Gascony)? Some of these great historic tourist attractions are situated not far from Camping La Brouquere and are therefore easily accessible by bike and thus ideal for sightseeing and daytrips.

 Visit the Chateau du Busca-Maniban.  The Château du Busca-Maniban is another of the many castles in the Gers (Gascony) in France and located just some 10km from Camping La Brouquere. A great idea for a historical discovery excursion. Some understanding of the French language is however recommended. Armagnac tasting is included!

 Visit the Collégiale de La Romieu  La Romieu is a quiet and authentic small medieval village with an impressive convent (’Collegiale’). Find out about the legend of Angeline and her cats.

 Beautiful cathedral in the village center.  The town of Condom is situated on the banks of the river Baïse and is sometimes called ’the access gate to the Armagnac’. This ancient village may have a strange name, but has a lot to offer, especially on wednesdays when the weekly market is being held. You should not miss a visit to this beautiful historic village during your holiday in France.

 Excellent example of a Cistercian cloister from the 12th century.  Visit the spectacular 'Abbaye de Flaran' constructed in the 12th century. This magnificent tourist attraction is one of the best preserved abbeys in the entire South-West of France. This impressive abbey is situated near Valence-sur-Baise just some 14km from camping La Brouquere.
Highlight: The Flaran Abbey houses the prestigious Simonow collection with works of art by some of the world’s most famous artists such as Cézanne, Chagall, Monet, Picasso and Renoir.

 Collection of shirts of Tour de France champions.  The chapel is all that remains of a 12th-century fortress of the Knights Templar. The chapel ’Notre Dame des Cyclistes’ is a focal point for amateur cyclists and tourists. The chapel was converted into a Museum of Cycling in aid of French racing and touring cyclists. There are over 600 shirts of Tour de France cyclists and even some of Tour de France champions such as Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault. The chapel includes a stained glass window designed and created by Henri Anglade, a former rider of the Tour de France, to represent cycling.
