Camping La Brouquere - Gondrin - Gers - France

Armagnac Region (Gascony)
Armagnac, Floc de Gascogne

The Armagnac region is situated in Gascony (Département Gers) in the south west of France. This region is divided into three individual Armagnac areas: 'Le Bas-Armagnac', 'La Ténarèze' with Condom as its capital (featuring the Armagnac Museum), and 'Le Haut-Armagnac'. The region is famous for its Armagnac (similar to Cognac), the Floc de Gascogne (aperitif) and red/white wines (Côtes de Gascogne).

Campsite La Brouquere lies right in the heart of the Armagnac region.....

Experts obviously taste the difference between Armagnacs from these different areas. But laymen also taste the difference, especially when comparing a 6 year old against a 40-year-old Armagnac. Locals in the region are in any case very proud of this competitor to the well-known Cognac and they are more than happy to tell you about it!

The farm campsite La Brouquere is situated in the Ténarèze, the very heart of the Armagnac region. It is therefore not hard to find several Domaines offering a warm welcome, friendly hospitality and a taste of their own 'liquid gold'. But when visiting a domaine, make sure to have a taste of the Floc de Gascogne, a mixture of Armagnac and grapejuice.

Armagnac, Floc de Gascogne and wine tasting
Domaine Polignac Domaine Polignac: listed in the Guide Hachette 2004.....A few kilometers east of the campsite lies Domaine Polignac. Here Jacques en Marylène Gratian take hospitality very serious and offer a taste of regional specialties such as Armagnac and Floc de Gascogne.
Domaine Guillaman Wine tasting at Domaine Guillaman...Wine tastings are regularly organised at Domaine Guillaman (www.domaine-guillaman.fr), a winery close to the campsite. Just a short walk through the vineyards will take us to the Domaine of Dominique and Stephanie Ferret who will show you around and tell you about wine making. Stephanie will let you taste their delicious white, rose and red wines (Côtes de Gascogne). And of course, if you like, you can buy some bottles for friends and family back home. A great and interesting way to learn more about these regional wines. Domaine Guillaman has received already many awards and medals from the CGA, the Concours Général Agricole in Paris, the most prestigious contest in France.
Domaine des Cassagnoles Great variety at Domaine des Cassagnoles.....Just north of the campsite along the main road between Gondrin and Mouchan lies Domaine des Cassagnoles. This Domaine attracts a bit more visitors (mainly French tourists) but it also offers a wide variety of wines made from grape varieties such as Colombard, Gros Manseng and Tannat. Have a look at the homepage of this Domaine.
