Cycling route from Camping La Brouquere to Polignac, Roques, Lagardere and Busca-Maniban.....

Description of the cycling route

This recreational cycling route 'Medieval Castles' takes you past some impressive medieval castles and churches in the Gers in southwestern France. From the campsite, the tour first points you on countryside roads via the former 'Auberge Gourmande' to Domaine Polignac. It is also worthwhile to turn right just after the former 'Auberge Gourmande' to take a look at the Lavoir Caubet wash-house, one of the beautifully restored old wash-houses in and around Gondrin.

Then the route continues to Roques, a tiny village on top of a hill with a characteristic church. The large tree next to the church can be seen from afar. After Roques the journey continues to Lagardère, where you can still see the impressive remains of a medieval church.

The route then continues towards the 'Chateau Busca-Maniban' castle. But first the remnants of an ancient church pops up on the right in Mansencôme. From the cycling route there is a beautiful view of this majestic church. Then the route turns left to 'Busca-Maniban'. But alternatively, you may just follow the road north to have look at the Chateau de Cassaigne first.

On top of the hill in the 'Busca-Maniban' castle, the owners used to make some beautiful Armagnacs. The route is then continued in the direction of Gondrin. First there is a nice descent, but later the road will climb back up after which it continues more or less flat to Gondrin.

Just before Gondrin, the cycling route passes through another old wash-house 'Lavoir Peyruc'. Quite worth the effort to stop and take a look. Incidentally, the most beautiful washing place of all the lavoirs in Gondrin is located nearby: Lavoir Lasdoutz. After Lavoir Peyruc, turn left onto 'La Couture' (be careful not to miss the exit). About 800m further on at an abandoned chicken shed, the route continues straight onto a gravel path. A few hundred meters further it even becomes a grass / sand path (just go straight ahead). At 'Au Cler' you will return to the asphalted street. Then a small climb and a quiet descent back to the campsite where the bike ride ends after 25km.
