Music Festivals - Gers, Gascony

The Département Gers in the South-West of France is known for its music festivals. The most prominent example is probably the annual jazz festival in Marciac. But many music fans also visit the country music festival in Mirande. Both festivals are within easy reach of the campsite.

Street music	Condom	This year the music festival Bandas Y Penas takes place again in Condom from 2-4 May 2008. Each year this is a big streetparty with lots of music. Unfortunately the alcohol consumption is reaching high levels (especially with the young generation). Not always a very happy sight.... Country and Western Music Festival	Mirande	From July 10th-14th 2008 the annual international Country and Western Music Festival is organised in this little pittoresque Gascon village. During 5 whole days over 50 concerts take place. Everything is in American country and western style and there are several attractions such as country and western dancing and car/motorbike exhibitions. Brass Band Music	Fleurance	In Fleurance the annual festival Cuivro Foliz is all about Brass Band music. During the weekend from 18-20 July 2008 there are 12 Brass Bands performing in over 50 concerts. [More information on the website: http://www.cuivrofoliz.com]
African Music	Condom	Drums, percussion and african dancing: that is the Festival Africain which is held from 18-20 July 2008 in Condom. Besides music there is an african market, Maroccan Tearoom and other african specialties.
Tempo Latino	Vic-Fezensac	From July 24th-27th 2008 a big music festival with latin-american music is organised in Vic-Fezensac. The festival is called Tempo Latino and takes place during several days in and around the big arena in this little town. Jazz Music Festival	Marciac	Marciac is especially known for its annual Jazz Music Festival. Each year big international star artist play here in august during this big spectacle. Big crowds of fans come here every time from far away to listen to the jazz music and enjoy the concerts. The great atmosphere can hardly be described. You just need to experience it yourself.
